Thursday Afternoon Update

Last night went well. Bishop Wood came up around 10 to visit and give Shannon a blessing. She did well throughout the night. Things have continued to go well today. Shannon started the day with another CAT scan which showed that no additional bleeding has occurred and the neurosurgeon was pleased with how things looked. She has been pretty stable and the doctors are pleased. The major objective right now is to keep things stable as the body, particularly her brain, goes through the natural process of swelling after an injury. The doctors say that the swelling in the brain will peak in the 72-96 hour range after the trauma, so keeping things stable during that period is very important.

We just had a wonderful, spiritual experience. Shannon's former Bishop and our family friend, Rob Wellman, came up, shared his love and concern and gave Priesthood blessings to Shannon, Kate, Pheobe and Udell. He reinforced the blessings she had been given yesterday. He gave us the assurance that this is all part of Heavenly Father's plan and will fulfill his divine purpose.

Again, we thank you all for the outpouring of love, faith and prayers. We are experiencing the Tender Mercies of the Lord as we exercise our faith and trust in the Savior and His Atonement. We are in awe of His goodness and mercy and are grateful to have Shannon as a nobel and wonderful daughter.
